The politics of Eurovision, an American perspective.

Another Eurovision came and went, with its usual mix of drag queens, disco queens and lesbian divas.

Deservedly, the talentless British crew came next to last, and my Ukrainian favourite was picked to the post.

The latest murmurs of dissent round these parts claim that the BBC's funding of the spectacle entitles us to prizes.

No doubt there is bloc voting, (Wogan would be very dull without it), and the'll be squabbles and infighting out east soon enough.

Likewise, if we want prizes, we should probably try sending a decent entry.
